President Rumen Radev will participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly from September 24 to 26.< /p>
This was announced by the press office of the head of state. Radev will lead the Bulgarian delegation and represent our country in New York.
The President will participate in the opening of the General Debate at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the theme of which this year is “Leaving No One Behind: Acting Together to Advance Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for the Present and the future generations“, the announcement makes clear.
In New York, the Bulgarian head of state will also participate in the high-level meeting of the Global Coalition against the threat of synthetic narcotic substances, which is being held under the patronage of US President Joe Biden.
Rumen Radev will make a speech during the General Debate of the 79th session on September 25.
He will participate in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative – a high-level partnership format between NATO and the Gulf Cooperation Council agreed in 2004 at the NATO Summit in Istanbul.
Later in the day there will be a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden honoring heads of state and government and their spouses on the occasion of the UN session.
Rumen Radev will meet on September 26 with representatives of leading American companies, organized by the American-Central European Business Association. During his working visit to New York, President Rumen Radev will hold meetings with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, as well as with heads of state and government and representatives of the governments of various countries and international organizations, added the press office of the head of state.< /p>
In the delegation led by the Bulgarian president are the official minister of foreign affairs Ivan Kondov and the official minister of environment and waters Petar Dimitrov. During his visit to the USA, Rumen Radev will be accompanied by his wife Desislava Radeva.
The session opened on September 10, with newly appointed Assembly President Philemon Yang outlining a vision for unity in diversity and calling for deeper international cooperation to address a range of global challenges, the world body's website said. Yang stressed the need for economic growth that reaches all population groups, driven by innovation and green economies, ensuring that "the benefits of economic development are available to all countries, large and small".
