The Director of the "Customs" Agency Georgi Dimov stated that our country will not lose European funding for the supply of x-ray equipment for border and customs control. However, he did not answer the question why direct contracting was chosen for the supply of the equipment.
Dimov convened an extraordinary briefing after earlier the MEP Radan Kanev and the PP-DB MP Martin Dimitrov signaled that, due to the lack of transparency, there could be a loss of 63 million euros and a new obstacle to the full acceptance of Bulgaria in Schengen and along land borders, BNR recalled.
The Director of "Customs" explained that after the public procurement was appealed, the Supreme Administrative Court issued an opinion that it should be terminated. When asked by the BNR why it was switched to direct negotiation and whether such an approach was approved by the European Commission, Dimov stated:
"The Director of the Agency "Customs" it is not possible to answer this question and consider what the EC is thinking. The Director of the "Customs" Agency asserts and assures the public that the EC is aware of every stage of the implementation of this procedure".
When asked if our accession to Schengen is in danger, Dimov answered:
"Categorically, the money will not be lost, I categorically state that the project will be completed in the form and manner in which the EC and the Agency "Customs" imagine that it should be realized".
Georgi Dimov also refused to answer questions related to his business before the transition to a public position, although there are media publications linking him to Evelin Banev - Brendo.
Regarding the pagers that blew up in Lebanon, Dimov confirmed the already known information that the "Customs" Agency has not detected the passage of such devices through our country.
