Raya Nazaryan: Politicians should be united and people should come out to vote - 1

Happy holiday to all Bulgarians, be proud and dignified that Bulgaria is an ancient nation, which with great efforts has won step by step its full sovereignty. Liberated and united, Bulgaria does not stop until it categorically declares its independence and opens its way to the family of the civilized world. This is what the Speaker of the National Assembly, Raya Nazaryan, from the old capital city of Veliko Tarnovo, told bTV.

„Independence is being able to declare your interests and defend them, but when you declare them, look for coincidence with those of others and defend them for yourself, but also for others. I think that Bulgaria, as a worthy country in the European Union, defends its interests, but also those of the family to which it belongs, added Nazaryan.

She called on politicians to show that they can be united and restore public trust, and people - to vote.

We have the wonderful opportunity for the campaign itself to proceed in a completely different way, with a different dialogue, with clear priorities and before the elections we are ready to tell the public what we will do next. Voter turnout is the key to getting out of the crisis. This is the key to establishing a stable government and calming the political scene. If they do not come out to vote, the parliament will be even more fragmented, and the more fragmented it is, the more impossible it is to form a coalition and future government of the country, commented the Speaker of the National Assembly.

In her words, although this parliament did not produce a regular government, many efforts were made to find a common path and understanding between the different formations.

„After I became the Speaker of the Parliament, I stepped back from my political power and looked absolutely equally at everyone and respected every legislative initiative for the benefit of the people. We are there for the sake of society and I tried to keep the balance between everyone, to remind them that language and words are a mirror to the world, added Raya Nazaryan.

The Speaker of the Parliament attended the festive liturgy in the church of “St. 40 martyrs“ on the occasion of the 116th anniversary of the declaration of the Independence of Bulgaria in Veliko Tarnovo. The festive Holy Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Gregory of Veliko Tarnovo. In the church where the Independence of Bulgaria was announced on September 22, 1908, the events of that memorable date were recreated and Prince Ferdinand's Manifesto was read.
