The saga continues: The Mayor of Mineralni Bani remains in custody - 1

The Mayor of Mineralni Bani Myumyun Iskender remains in custody until the court pronounces on the merits.

Today the court adjourned and directed the hearing on the prosecution's request for permanent detention to October 3.

The reason is the preparation of a forensic medical examination of the mayor. And the protest of the people of Mineralni Bani was transferred to the police, BGNES specified.

Earlier, the court gave the lawyers one hour to familiarize themselves with part of the materials of the investigation against the mayor. They are a total of 6 boxes with 78 volumes, bTV reported.

The accusation is about an organized criminal group. The mayor, his son, the municipality's technician and the mayor's daughter, who is released on bail, are accused of 3 separate acts committed in the period 2013-2015 when applying for funding for subsidies to the state fund "Agriculture".

Over 100 people from Mineralni Bani gathered this afternoon in the parking lot in front of the court in Haskovo, where Iskender's measure was being watched.

There was an increased police presence in the area of the court because of an expected protest in his defense. Those who gathered earlier stated that they did not come to protest, but to support the mayor.

On September 20, an action of KPCONPI was held in Mineralni Bani municipality. Searches and searches were carried out in the mayor's office in the municipality and in the hotel of the family of the mayor Myumyun Iskender.

He was visiting Turkey at the time.

Myumyun Iskender was the only municipal mayor in Haskovo region who openly announced that he was behind Ahmed Dogan. After that, the Municipal Council of DPS also supported the honorary chairman.

Later it became clear that Iskender entered the pre-election battle as a candidate for deputy. He will be from the “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” for Haskovo.

Myumyun Iskender family's hotel was once already under scrutiny when the guesthouse scandal broke in the summer of 2018.
