The Bulgarian-Macedonian Historical Commission has been slightly changed composition and cannot protect a single interest since there are two sides. These countries have quite polar views not only on historical but also on civilizational issues. The main task of the commission is to try to reconcile the two histories - Macedonian and Bulgarian. They have two different visions, and Macedonian scientists should approach the position of the Bulgarian part of the commission, because this is the true science and judgments about past history.
This is what he said about the program “Bulgaria, Europe and the world in focus" on Radio “Focus" the historian and former politician Prof. Mihail Nedelchev.
According to Prof. Mihail Nedelchev, there will be a freeze on the commission's work, because with the hardening of the tone, the Bulgarian participants cannot accept it. They must be unequivocal in their demands not to speak in this way, not to insult Bulgaria.
The Minister of Transport of the RSM Alexander Nikolovski denied the existence of any common history between Bulgaria and the RSM and their peoples, and the reason for his statement was the absence of the Macedonian flag in the Presidency during the private visit of the Macedonian President Mrs. Gordana Siljanovska -Davkova.
"This is obviously a wanted scandal, looking for different occasions. The flag is a matter of protocol, but it is a search for occasions that can always be found. The Republic of North Macedonia is playing some very complicated game, they say they want to become members of the EU, but they are not in a hurry to take the steps towards it, they have not yet gone down that road at all. It is obvious that there are dependencies on Serbia, on Russia, which prevent this European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia. The conductor of the incessant tension between Bulgaria and the RSM is unilaterally from Macedonia. Ordinary people in Macedonia are friendly towards Bulgarians. The hostile position is of a pro-Serbian party in Macedonia", noted Prof. Mihail Nedelchev.
According to the historian, the VMRO-DPMN administration and President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova will freeze the relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia for a long time. "The freeze is a dead end and I have no idea how to get out of this thing. According to the Macedonian side, the Friendship and Good Neighbor Treaty is redundant. Naturally, this contract is not superfluous for Bulgaria, it is a contract of the European Union with the Republic of North Macedonia, it is a European contract. Obviously, it is impossible not to be friends with your neighbor and want to go the European way. This is also the opinion of Josep Borel, who is responsible for foreign policy in the EU, Prof. Mihail Nedelchev concluded
