Atanas Ilkov: I would have broken several nails if I had told the National Assembly who buys votes - 1

"Colleagues have gained enough experience in the organization of elections in the last two years and I rely on their professionalism to justify the trust of the citizens".

This is what the Acting Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov told BNT.

The minister explained that every single signal of electoral crimes is immediately entered into the geographic information system of the Ministry of the Interior. It is constantly monitored how many signals there are, where they come from and whether they are being worked on:

"There is absolutely no possibility that a report will not be filed, it will be covered up and the necessary actions will not be taken.

When asked why he did not tell the parliament who bought votes in the previous elections, Ilkov explained:

"In this way, I had to open the election campaign, and I was also put in a position to break several laws by announcing this information. It is important to collect enough data and suitable evidence, it is not more important exactly which party bought and that I disclose it - it is not right.

Bulgaria has done its homework regarding the overland Schengen, and very well - it has fulfilled all the criteria, the minister is emphatic.

"I have weekly online meetings with my colleague from Romania - we talk about what we have to do, so that we are united in our positions and actions and show the EU that we are going together and achieving everything that is as requirements".

We have wonderful relations with Turkey and our joint actions have reduced the migrant flow by 70% compared to last year, Atanas Ilkov also said.

The police acted within their powers in the case of the driver, whose license was revoked after a dragger tested positive for drugs, and it turned out that the woman had been taking medication. However, the minister admitted that the officials could have acted "more humanely" and not keep her in a chair for 12 hours in the district hospital.

"Imagine if we were not so demanding of drivers who use alcohol and drugs, would we achieve the results we are achieving now? We work with technical means that many European countries work with. They are more precise because if they do not detect the presence of this opiate in the blood, they will not detect the presence of marijuana in drivers who have used and then get into the car. We suffer a lot of criticism for taking away the licenses of drivers who have taken drugs and whose technical device records them.

Ilkov stated that he would rather have "100 dissatisfied" with their licenses revoked for 3-4 months in front of the pain of families who lost loved ones in accidents.

"If there is a scale in front of me and on one side we put the pain and suffering of loved ones and the dissatisfaction on the other side, on the condition that we have 60 deaths less than serious road accidents, which will prevail - the dissatisfaction of 100 people or the sadness and the pain of those people who have lost loved ones in accidents? I meet these people. I see the sadness in people's eyes and I'd rather have some people unhappy than have people in pain and suffering, because that's very hard.
