Rositsa Mateva, CEC: We still do not know how many sections will be abroad - 1

The warehouse storing the voting machines will cease to operate on Monday if the issue of its rent is not resolved.

The deputy chairman and spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, Rositsa Mateva, commented this to BNT.

"What may be a problem, and we hope for quick assistance from the executive, is that with the warehouse. On July 31, the lease where the machines were stored expired. Several talks were held in the Council of Ministers, most recently on August 27, the Deputy Prime Minister and I held a meeting with the landlord's representative. He gave a deadline of September 30 to settle the matter. Today we received a letter from him that the matter is still not settled and that after September 30th he will refuse to carry out the activities inside the warehouse. We immediately forwarded this letter to the MC and we hope for a quick response," Mateva explained.

She also explained what happens next with the machines in the warehouse after October 1:

"He states in the letter that the activities will not be carried out in the warehouse, the machines will be there, but they will not be removed from the racks to be given to the contractor to ensure the machine voting,", added Rositsa Mateva .

So far, the CEC has received several complaints related to the appointment of members of the sectional election commissions. Mateva emphasized that the commission works transparently:

"The CEC makes every effort to show and be a transparent body. All our decisions are public. The CEC is making efforts to organize fair and transparent elections", the spokesperson of the commission also assured.

The CEC still cannot say what the number of sections abroad will be and reminded that until October 1 is the deadline for submitting an application for voting outside the country. The commission has not yet decided whether there will be a reward for a correctly completed protocol by the members of the sectional election commissions at this vote as well.
