Traffic in two of the Hemus tunnels will again be in one tube - 1

From September 30 (Monday), around 11 o'clock, traffic will be restricted in the tube in the direction of Varna on the "Praveshki Khanov" tunnel. and in the tube in the direction of Sofia on the "Topli dol" tunnel; on the "Hemus" highway, reported by the "Road Infrastructure" agency, quoted by BNT.

The change in the traffic organization is to continue the major repair of the two facilities. In July, activities were temporarily suspended in order to facilitate the passage and not impede travel during the summer season. From the beginning of October, traffic will be carried out in two directions in the tubes where no construction works are carried out.

The restriction of movement in the tube to Varna on the tunnel "Praveshki Khanov" it will be until October 30, and the traffic will pass in both directions in the tube to Sofia. Some activities related to the ventilation system, power supply, adaptive lighting, traffic lights, controllable road signs, video surveillance, etc. will be completed in the facility. After that, the main repair will continue in the tube in the direction of Sofia.

The speed of movement in both facilities will be up to 50 km/h.

The estimated deadline for the final completion of the major repairs of the tunnels is the summer of 2025. The construction and installation works started in November last year and so far no major repairs have been carried out on the facilities. "Warm Valley" has been in operation since 1985, and "Praveshki Inns" - from the end of the 90s of the last century and until now they have not been fundamentally repaired.

Agency "Road Infrastructure" apologizes to drivers for the inconvenience caused, but points out that the continuation of repair works is necessary. The appeal to the drivers is to observe the traffic rules, drive at the permitted speed and not undertake risky overtaking that endangers the safety of all other travelers.
