For the use of the republican road network on the territory of the Capital Municipality no vignettes are due. This was said by the Deputy Mayor for Finance, Ivan Vassilev, on Nova TV. He commented on the dispute with the "Road Infrastructure" Agency. (API), who warned that it may lead to the introduction of vignettes for crossing the Sofia Ring Road. The reason is contractual obligations for the maintenance of the republican road network.
"The municipality currently has an agreement for ongoing maintenance of the republican road network. We have taken the necessary actions to survey the condition of the bridge," the deputy mayor also said.
The Chairman of the Board of API Yordan Valchev explained that the exclusion of fees applies to an urbanized territory, and the Metropolitan Municipality has roads that are outside it.
In his words, the introduction of vignettes is a hypothesis. "I hope, together with the Metropolitan Municipality, we can solve this problem as quickly as possible and sign an agreement on these vignettes," he said. Valchev insisted that the CO should sign an agreement with API, as has been done regularly so far.
