„I think we have seen a lot of things in these 30 and a half years in elections. But we had never seen such a miracle. The miracle is the direct involvement of state authorities to intimidate candidates from certain political parties.“
This was stated in the show “Face to Face“ on bTV former MEP Petar Kurumbashev.
„We have shifted the limit of sensitivity for many things. To a serious extent, we are already used to the fact that elections can be bought, rigged and manipulated. The line between legal and tolerable has shifted. I didn't see any analysis – one of the ways to catch the bought vote is, for example, what sociologists give before the elections. Obviously, there is a formation that is much higher than what sociologists detected before the elections,”, he also stated.
„I don't see any receptors in society. Our defense mechanisms have weakened quite a bit. Some people just put up with it. Others say that the bowed head of the sword does not cut it. There is also a dose of apathy. The problem in general is that Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski do not have the legitimacy to rule the country. On the other hand, there is no strong enough alternative against them to replace them. At the moment, we are at a dead end, in which neither the old ones leave, nor the new ones are good enough to replace the old ones”, added Petar Kurumbashev
„All this gives way to some third forces. The job is starting to look like a political Halloween. In any case, we will not remain without a government. The interesting question is – can a majority be created without Borisov and Peevski. This question comes up every time and therefore it will be very interesting which majority will be able to propose and elect the Speaker of the National Assembly, he added.
