What we call politics in Bulgaria is not politics, but some bargaining at the Makhlen level for positions. There is politics where there are ideas and some plans for the development of society.
Ivo Siromakhov, writer, screenwriter, playwright and TV presenter, began his interview with BNR with this comment. He presented his new book "My inspirations".
"Political intrigue is a consequence, it is the result of our attitude towards others, towards society. We hardly understand each other. We can hardly gather 5 people and formulate a common interest, formulate what we are striving for. That's why things don't work out. ... We Bulgarians have a very poorly developed sense of community. ... If we are aware of being a part of something bigger, from some community, we will not live like this", he added.
I do not see a national ideal formulated by anyone to which we should strive now, as "after the Liberation, Bulgarians were united by the idea that Bulgaria should be whole again and that all Bulgarians should live together in one country", Ivo Siromakhov also said.
"Now the goals are Schengen, the Eurozone. Yes, these are nice things, but they are small," he pointed out
