Institutions to take urgent measures to deal with cases of violence in the country. Acting Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov has ordered all heads of regional and district prosecutor's offices to request the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MI) to take swift action on unsolved cases of violence.
According to the order of Borislav Sarafov, the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs must immediately notify the prosecutors' offices of all signals and materials related to violence. In cases where there is evidence of a crime, pre-trial proceedings will be initiated.
Focus on three categories of violence
Particular attention will be paid to incidents that occurred:
in public places;
when driving motor vehicles;
in domestic violence.
Prosecutors will assess the public danger of the acts when determining measures to arrest the perpetrators.
Progress Reports
The order also specifies the time schedule for reporting the results of the work on these cases.
Within seven days, the supervising prosecutors must prepare reports on the inspections and investigations.
Administrative managers have two weeks to summarize the data.
Within three weeks, the appellate prosecutor's offices will send final information to the chief prosecutor.
With this coordinated approach, the aim is to deal more quickly and effectively with the manifestations of violence in the country.
