According to Prof. Kostadin Shterev, there is a resource for 500 megawatts of energy under the Sofia Field, of which we do not use a single kilowatt. By decision of the Council of Ministers in 2011, 8 mineral springs were handed over to the Sofia Municipality for exploitation, which are for 5 years and there is a grace period of another 5 years, but nothing has been done.
This was stated on the air of “Eurocom“ by the long-time chief architect of Sofia and current chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Architects – Petar Dikov.
“These 500 megawatts can provide heating for kindergartens and educational institutions. It will be many times cheaper. We had made a project for a geothermal power plant in NAC. There is a room downstairs. Mineral water is 50 m. from NAC and few people there know that there are excavations with a round, low building. It is from the drilling that was done years ago. We did research and studies on how to restore it, but there was no development“, he added.
