The state subsidy of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) for the third quarter of 2024 has been transferred via a new bank an account controlled by Delyan Peevski. The information has been confirmed through the Access to Public Information Act by "Mediapool".
Change in bank accounts
After the election of Delyan Peevski and Jevdet Chakarov as chairmen of the DPS at the beginning of the year, Peevski took independent actions, declaring himself as the sole representative of the party. In this context, he indicated a new bank account to the Ministry of Justice, different from the previous one, which was under joint control with Chakarov.
Amount of subsidy
According to the register of the Ministry of Justice, for the period from July to September 2024, 736,623 BGN were transferred to the account newly indicated by Peevski. The agency based its decision on the fact that the new bank account was applied for within the deadline established by law.
Legal consequences
This development effectively means that Ahmed Dogan's supporters are left without access to state funding for the party. In the meantime, the merits of the case filed by them, which requests the removal of Peevski as a representative of the movement, is pending.
