In Pleven, people went out to protest for another Sunday, bTV reported. The reason – the drastic water regime this year.
For the fourth time in the last month, Pleven residents have blocked a road with flags, vuvuzelas and posters.
The fears are that the nightmare with the water fountains that have been dry for 16 hours will be repeated if urgent measures are not taken to find water and replace the outdated network.
„You cannot pay for one of the most expensive waters and say there are 70-80% losses, in my opinion this is genocide against a medium-sized city and the surrounding area, because the villages are all without water“, believes Tsvetan Moinov.
„We have not tired, the bad thing is that we still do not have any visible results, there is no deepening of wells, no construction of a dam on the Vit River near the village of Bivolare, there is no search for water“, said Borislav Tsvetanov, organizer of the protest.
„I am traveling from Ruse, I joined because the protest is quite justified. People are rightly dissatisfied that they do not have water, and if this happens in Sofia, be sure that the state will react faster“, believes Ivo Pazardzhiev.
A few days ago, in a declaration, the municipal council also insisted on quick and time-bound actions to overcome the water shortage, as well as on state funding. And the protesters threatened that they were ready to block the highway.
