Five victims with injuries of varying severity caused by pyrotechnic devices were admitted after midnight to the Yambol Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment (MBAL) “St. Panteleimon”, the medical facility reported, quoted by BTA.
Among them is a seven-year-old child who was urgently transported to the capital's Pirogov Hospital for plastic surgery.
The remaining four victims remain under treatment at the local regional hospital. A 30-year-old man was admitted to “Surgery” after a tube from a pyrotechnic device became lodged in his chest and caused a serious thermal wound. Three others - a 14-year-old child, a 25-year-old man and another 30-year-old man - are admitted to the Orthopedics Department. They have lacerations on their hands, one of them has a severed finger, the hospital added.
“Such incidents have been absent for several years in a row, we have not had such cases in the hospital. Unfortunately, this year they have been a fact, and a record number of cases“, said the deputy director of the “St. Panteleimon” Hospital, Dr. Valentin Valchev. He recalled that injuries from these devices can sometimes be life-threatening. In view of the ongoing holidays, we urge not to use such devices, especially by children, appeals Dr. Valchev from the hospital in Yambol.
