Gen. Atanasov: The ruling status quo could be changed through the presidential elections - 1

No decision has been made in our parliamentary group to request a vote of no confidence against the government. We need to discuss it very carefully, because we are on the verge of entering the eurozone and there are risks. This was said in the program "From the Day" on BNT by the leader of DSB and MP from "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" Gen. Atanas Atanasov, quoted by novini.bg.

We have been working consistently for many years for this goal and we would not want to cause damage. This most important goal of Bulgaria must be realized, even though we do not agree with the policies pursued by the ruling majority. From there we will continue the political battles, he added.
According to him, the ruling majority is very stable.

The four-party coalition is concrete. From the outside, our coalition looks loose, but we are very organized and are working very seriously on our priorities, said Gen. Atanasov.

We need to focus on the next elections - the presidential ones, because through them the ruling status quo could change. This could happen if the right-wing space wins the vote, pointed out the MP from "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria".

Bulgaria chose the European path precisely with the victory of Petar Stoyanov in the presidential elections. We have invited a wide range of public figures, political scientists and sociologists to a round table to seek the mechanism by which to reach a unified candidate for president. In our coalition, we have united around the fact that the initiative will be common, and from there other formations can join, he added.
In my opinion, we should look for a broad-spectrum personality who does not have a solid membership in any of the parties, so that in addition to uniting the membership of the parties, we can also seek broad support in the democratic community. It is good for it to be a person who looks to the West, with right-wing beliefs, who is not a pure party member and who has the qualities to unite the widest possible spectrum. I defend the position that early elections should be held, others have other views - let's discuss them, the important thing is to be on the same track. The coalition in this composition is convinced that this is the way - to look for a unified candidate. We must not allow a runoff between a representative of the status quo and a representative of the pro-Russian political forces, because there is such a risk, emphasized the general. Atanas Atanasov.

Gen. Atanasov, who is also the rotating chairman of the Commission for Control over the Security Services, announced that he is convening a meeting on June 5, at which he requested a hearing of the heads of the services. As a reason, he points to the revelations in the journalistic investigation published on the website The Insider by Hristo Grozev and Roman Dobrokhotov about special operations conducted by the GRU on the territory of Bulgaria, including disinformation operations.
Since the war in Ukraine began, I have seen inaction on the part of the services. There is not a single case related to espionage from Russia to Bulgaria. There was such a case in London, and there is no institutional response in Bulgaria. There were also explosions in weapons warehouses in our country. I want to hear what information the services have on these processes, the DSB leader also said.
