The doctors' demands are not escalating for the first time. The protest of medical specialists is fair. So many injustices have accumulated in the healthcare system over the years. The disproportions in the system are colossal. This was stated by the former Minister of Health Mimi Vitkova in the program “Osche ot dnia“ on BNT, quoted by novini.bg.

Nurses have been protesting for years. Their salaries gravitate around the minimum wage. Our nurses have left for Western Europe, and their work is being done by the interns, she pointed out.

It is high time for the government and political parties to sit down and look at these problems, and not wait for them to erupt, believes Vitkova.
Our healthcare is dying. It is supported by retired nurses. We have exposed the system in the cities, and in small towns it is even worse. Severe disproportions are observed, the former Minister of Health warned.

The young interns have also brought up other problems in the system, in addition to pay, this is overtime. They say that they do the menial work, at the same time they do not have the conditions for specialization. They fill the deficit in the system, said Mimi Vitkova.

In this crisis we are currently in, there should be a more normal starting salary. The state has abdicated control over the healthcare system. It can't go on like this anymore - if solutions aren't found, the problems will escalate, she warned. According to her, another big problem in healthcare is lobbies and she called on the state to step into its role.
