„From „Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – MRF” we entered this government with the clear awareness of being a corrective and being loyal. We will do everything possible, together with our coalition partners, to implement what is written in the agreement. We will try to stop corruption schemes and create an environment in which regulators and all other institutions work with democratic principles”. This was said on the air of „Hello, Bulgaria” on Nova TV by the MP from „Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – MRF” Ramadan Atalay.
According to him, the formation will talk to the new Interior Minister Daniel Mitov about appointing the former Secretary General Ivaylo Ivanov back to the Ministry of Interior. “If there is a shred of doubt that this will interfere with the democratic principles of work, we will express our positive or negative opinion”, explained Atalay.
”So far, only we from “Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – MRF” have expressed doubts about Delyan Peevski's influence on the judiciary and executive. Now that we are already part of the parliamentary majority, we will be that corrective who will prove with facts whether there are such connections or not”, added the MP.
According to him, it is time to stop the political crisis in the country. “Neither PP, nor GERB or “There is such a people” want us to go to new elections”, pointed out Atalay.
”The “Magnitsky” Law is being discussed at length. If it is not a text of the laws in Bulgaria, it cannot exist in our country. Coalition culture means that everyone would take care of their coalition partner so that all priorities are met. We believe that this is the beginning of the change that will occur from now on. If this does not happen, the responsibility will be on everyone, not just on “Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – MRF”, he added.
Atalaj also commented on the topic of the appointment of the three big names in the judiciary by the Supreme Judicial Council. “The change of regulators, including the SJC, is important for everyone. If influence is allowed in the judicial system again, we from “Democracy, Rights and Freedoms – MRF” do not agree to the participation of such individuals. The pressure and threats must be stopped from now on,” he believes.
