The last few months have not been easy, both for the country and for our party, the BSP. The situation we are in shows that the decisions we have made as a party have not always been correct. For this, I most likely bear my own fault, as I have been elected 4 times as a member of the BSP parliament, in terms of the party I have been a member of the Executive Bureau of the party, as well as a member of the National Council. This was stated to FACTI by former BSP MP Stoyan Mirchev and explained his reasons for leaving the Centennial:
But I can say that every decision I have been a part of has always been dictated by the idea of fighting the vicious model of governance that was created by GERB and MRF, by the cooperation between the two parties over the past 15 years. Although these two parties have never been in an official coalition, evidence of the agreement between them is a fact.
In my understanding, GERB is the main party that turned corruption into a widespread state policy, destroyed institutions, and put our country at the top of all kinds of negative European rankings. On several occasions, through the media or from the podium of the National Assembly, I have directly compared them to the mafia and have tried to expose a number of crimes committed by the Borisov regimes.
The topic is comprehensive, but I do not want to enter into unnecessary controversy here.
Therefore, I will simply summarize. The current leadership of the party is trying to convince us that the current power coalition with GERB is the only way to fight the vicious models created by GERB. It is trying to convince us that an evil can only be defeated by uniting with itself and thus taming it.
It cannot be done like that, I do not believe in the maxim that the end justifies the means.
Also, I was part of the Congress that decided that the BSP would never enter into government together with GERB. It does not matter whether this position of the Congress is formally in the form of a decision, a declaration or some other type of document. I remember that this was the congressional will of the socialists in the hall, as well as of those in the country who fight every day at the local level with the new state – mafia and its feudal lords. This decision was now ignored and trampled on by 100 people, during the last meeting of the BSP National Assembly (12.01.2025).
The desire of several dozen people in the BSP to personally settle in relevant high state positions, for the purpose of personal benefit, is evident. Something that does not seem so special and surprising IF in this case the complete depersonalization of the BSP was not at stake – depersonalization and invalidation as the only left party in our country (socialist), as the only party that could be a real alternative to the GERB model.
Unfortunately, the latest decisions and participation in this new 3+1 coalition, led by GERB and manipulated by DPS-Dogan, will be disastrous for the BSP as a strong and worthy left party, as well as the left in general in our country for many years to come.
With great regret, I note that although the founding principles of our party have been completely violated, criticism is now almost non-existent in the BSP, I see a lull ahead of the upcoming entry into power and the governance of the country.
The current situation is INCOMPATIBLE with my ideological and value perceptions of what our party should be. Therefore, I declare that I am terminating my membership in the BSP. I ask the chairman of the region to also notify the BSP National Assembly so that I can be removed from the BSP National Assembly.
To avoid unnecessary intrigue and speculation, I want to say that I DO NOT intend to be a member of another party or political project at this stage of my life.
