Almost a month after an 18-year-old girl lost her life after an accident with horses on a road near Kyustendil - the local authorities continue to look for a solution to the long-standing problem with stray animals. Two field guards and a 24-hour patrol that will patrol neurological road sections are part of the measures that the mayor of the city is taking while a general decision is expected from the Road Agency, Nova TV reported.

"The incident that occurred on this section is not isolated. We have several similar places on the territory of our municipality, where farm and wild animals come out. Since I have been mayor for the past year, the measures that we have taken to limit the entry of animals onto the roadway are to appoint a field guard to patrol the area. During the year we have detained 13 horses, which were also chipped". This was stated in “Hello, Bulgaria” by the mayor of Kyustendil Ognyan Atanasov.

According to him, although the area is not municipal, an electric fence has been built. "This electric fence was cut four times last week alone. We have repaired the damage in a timely manner. But - neither the field guard nor the electric fence are a panacea. In my opinion, a fence should be built", the mayor emphasized.
