We have long been ready to request a convergence report on Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone. We have adopted the policies of the European Central Bank, we are already at the average level for European incomes. I believe that the technical criteria have also been met. This was stated to BTV by economist Evgeniy Kanev.
According to him, everything also depends on the budget deficit, and with a reasonable fiscal policy, this criterion should also be met.
He expects the budget to end below 3% and added that there is no logic that the deficit will be larger.
Kanev hopes that state interests will be preferred over private corporate interests. "There are strong lobbies in business that want to pay lower taxes", the economist commented.
According to him, 400 million leva will be the revenue from the increase in VAT for establishments.
"All people who work on the street, such as the ministries, such as the employees of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense, deserve to receive a salary increase."
"The euro is the second safest currency in the world", the economist concluded.
