„The first 100 days of this government are an absolute failure. A couple, a disgrace in government“. This was stated by political scientist and member of the Executive Council of “Unruly Bulgaria“ Kaloyan Metodiev in the program “Workdays“ on Eurocom TV and pointed out several, symbolic in his words, examples from these 100 days:
„The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting considered the adoption of an order not to fly drones over airports as their first success. You know, there was a drone that 90 days ago nearly stopped a plane with 400 people on board, the plane almost crashed. To this day, there is no trace of this drone. And the government boasts that it has adopted an ordinance banning drones at airports. Something like banning terrorists from committing terrorist acts? This is already in the realm of folklore, of jokes.
Next: Toto 5 out of 35 became 5 out of 41, also in a scandalous and ridiculous way. An important fact, because this is trust in a state institution, built over years“, Kaloyan Metodiev pointed out.
He emphasized the contract with “Botas“: “Every day under this contract, one and a half million is paid. I see no steps to terminate the contract“.
According to him, the other blatant stupidity of this government is the canceled UNESCO forum in Sofia. “And now Bulgaria and Bulgarian citizens will pay the French state for holding the forum. Tell me, in which country is this?“, reacted Kaloyan Metodiev.
“50 million per kilometer of highway. More than in Romania, in Serbia - Bulgarian companies are building there too. And the prices are half. The budget - the most anti-social, anti-business budget, the worst budget in terms of social policy, of small and medium-sized businesses. Parliament, which adopted 4 laws in 6 months. Not to mention the refusal to listen to the police about the smuggling channel. Which means that the parliament - the highest institution in the state, is covering up“, the political scientist also pointed out.
And more from the political conversation: “A parliament elected after stolen elections, falsified elections - all of Bulgaria saw this. Nailed down by a decision of the Constitutional Court, despite the fact that the court examined only 2,000 sections out of a complaint filed for 7,000. The Constitutional Court actually swept away the traces, covered up most of the violations committed mainly by GERB, DPS-New Beginning and BSP. And here I want to open a big parenthesis, because this is the genesis of governance, of the budget, of politics, of everything. In any other European country, if they were found guilty of even 1% of what happened in Bulgaria, the leaders of the parties would neither remain nor have any chance of participating in the elections. GERB, DPS and BSP should have had their leaders resign, because their parties and their representatives on committees - not in one place, but in thousands of places - have stolen. This is an organized process. It is not a random process in the committee in Garmen or in Satovcha, or in Pernik. This is an organized, large-scale process of election theft“, commented Kaloyan Metodiev.
Asked to comment on the words of Peevski and Borisov, who expressed dissatisfaction with the government and parliament, the political scientist replied: “In the same sentence, after saying how dissatisfied he was, Peevski said that he would not allow this government to fall. Borisov, who also said that he was dissatisfied because the government was not working, is a mandate holder. That is, they tell us that their own government has no program, it is not working, there is no water for the people, they promise some things, then they deny them. This whole thing is for a psychiatrist or a psychologist. I can no longer understand who has what role in this parliament, in this National Assembly“.
He described the Borisov-Radev relationship as in an Italian love novel: “Here they get together, here they quarrel, and this has been going on for years. Just a few months ago, Radev gave this government more time than he has given any other government to assemble itself, supported them. He did not appeal the elections. We filed an appeal and called on him to appeal the elections as president. He has such powers. He did not do it. He went to the oath of office of this parliament, given that the media showed the brutal abuses by sections, how they steal our votes, how they manipulate. He supported the Constitutional Judge of Peevski and Borisov. I recall that as head of the Air Force, he gave his bet, went with Boyko Borisov, had coffee in the Council of Ministers, went outside and got his bet back. So, their relationship is long, complicated. Now lately they have also been comparing corruption. My corruption with the highways is less than your corruption with “Botas“, commented Kaloyan Metodiev.
In the conversation about immunities: “Kornelia Ninova stated the principled position of “Unruly Bulgaria“ immediately after its establishment. We are for radical change. Deputies do not need immunities. Where will 240 people have immunity from? Possibly, only functional immunity for speaking. But from then on, if we are all equal before the law and under the Constitution. Inside, people who pay each other, buy votes. They commit fraud just to get this coveted immunity“, Metodiev pointed out.
Asked about the position of “Unruly Bulgaria“ on convening a Grand National Assembly, he replied: “This agony must stop. We see: a dysfunctional state, an absent judicial system, the Ministry of Interior in absolute organizational and moral collapse – the examples are becoming more and more: Haskovo, Plovdiv“.
According to the political scientist, this chaos has one reason and it is political. Obviously, with this structure in the state at the moment, the problems cannot be solved, but are being buried - with immunities, with the judicial system, with the number of deputies, and with the decentralization of local government, because mayors are subordinate to the central government, not to the citizens.
“Youth aggression is getting out of control and becoming a social problem“, said Kaloyan Metodiev and recalled:
“These gangs, we talked to you in this studio, were in the malls. Then I warned - when you take them out of the malls with more security, you do not solve the problem. Because, they simply move. With the warming of the weather, they go to kindergartens, around schools, at metro stations. They dress identically, in black clothes, they are noticeable. Why don't the police react? They started moving around on scooters. They beat people for pleasure, not out of poverty, but out of pampering“.
Asked what is the position of “Unruly Bulgaria“ on this problem of our society today, he replied:
“Not campaigning – here we need a comprehensive strategy to deal with the problem. We also use foreign experience. We talked to specialists. On Monday, the Greek government adopted a 130-point strategy in terms of dealing with youth crime. We also saw experience in Great Britain. There was a similar case. Community service is provided for in the Greek legislative program. Register. There is a similar register in Bulgaria too. Increased meetings with psychologists, school specialists, special schools. Constant prevention“, Kaloyan Metodiev pointed out. And he added:
„But this chain starts from politics. The fish stinks only from one place - from the head and goes down. Since he can commit a crime in the elections - I am referring here to the three parties, GERB-SDF, BSP and DPS-New Beginning, why can't I?“
In response to the question of what measures are needed to prevent accidents with scooters: „We shouldn't go to extremes, because this is an ecological means of transport and cheaper. But no one should ride without a helmet. It should be banned up to 16 years of age. The speed should be limited, like in Germany. Here again it is a question of implementing the legislation“, Kaloyan Metodiev pointed out.
About the decision of the parliament at the first reading to allow private hospitals, just like state hospitals, to conduct public procurements for medicines, Kaloyan Metodiev said: “A fair decision, if it becomes a fact. Because I have witnessed both as a deputy and in the tradition of the Bulgarian parliament, suddenly between the first and second readings something happens and things turn 180 degrees. It is not possible for a medicine in a state hospital to cost 64 leva, and in a private one - 1180 leva, the exact same medicine. Both are paid for by the Health Fund, i.e. from taxpayers' money. This was one of the ways for the Health Fund to be drained. But, as I said - this is only one step on the way. Do you remember how Desislava Atanasova from GERB raised her pen some time ago against “Vazrazhdane“ and “Vazrazhdane“ changed their vote exactly on the same legal provision. Recently, Kostadin Angelov scandalously, with his thumb, imposed on the BSP the decision not to hold a hearing on the smuggling channel in Plovdiv“.
