A contractor has been selected for the construction of the new building of the Sofia University "St. Patriarch Evtimii" in Plovdiv. Both this and the first order were won by "Zapryanovi - 03" Ltd. The value of the project amounts to 13,561,736 euros including VAT, and the other participant - "Aqua Construct Group" Ltd. has been removed from the procedure. This is one of the three large-scale projects for new school buildings that are expected to be implemented in Plovdiv, TrafficNews specifies. The other two are for the Mathematics High School "Academician Kiril Popov" and the Primary School “Knyaz Alexander I“.
The selection of a contractor occurs after the delay of the public procurement, caused by complaints to the Commission for Protection of Competition by “Aqua Construct Group” EOOD and “Parsek Group” EOOD. However, both complaints were rejected by the regulator. If no new appeals follow, the contract with the selected contractor is expected to be signed soon.
We recall that this is the second procedure that the Municipality of Plovdiv has launched for the construction of the building, as the first one was terminated after a decision of the Supreme Administrative Court, following complaints from the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria. After that, the Municipality of Plovdiv restarted the procedure after conducting feasibility studies, in accordance with the requirements of the court and the recommendations of the expert council.
The project for the new building provides for the construction of 25 modern classrooms, specialized offices and laboratories, a multifunctional area with an auditorium for 90 students, a library and an administrative sector. A comprehensive accessible environment will also be provided through elevators and ramps.
The educational area will cover 3854.40 sq. m and will include administrative premises, a doctor's and dental office, as well as a sports sector with a large indoor hall, a football field and combined basketball and volleyball courts. There are also planned areas for dining and relaxation, a landscaped courtyard with rest areas, gazebos and benches, 20 parking spaces and a bicycle area.
The educational space will be organized according to the “flipped classroom“ model, in which tables and chairs are arranged in a semicircle for better communication between the teacher and students. Each classroom will have a multimedia projector and high-tech equipment, allowing the use of interactive and digital teaching methods.
The new school will consist of three buildings, united in a modern, green and sustainable complex with a total developed built-up area of about 6700 sq. m.
Construction must be completed within 700 calendar days after the opening of the construction site.
Financing will be provided under the program “Construction, extension, upgrading and reconstruction of nurseries, kindergartens and schools 2024 – 2027“, Module 2, as well as with funds from the budget of the Municipality of Plovdiv, with partial funding currently available.
