Valletta has over 300 sunny days a year! In addition to its pleasant weather conditions, the capital of Malta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for its architecture – historical baroque buildings, frescoes, fortress walls, many palaces and churches.

In addition to cultural heritage, tourists can also enjoy modern entertainment infrastructure, including restaurants and cultural centers, such as the National Museum of Art.

And in the spring (from March 11 to May 29) 2026, Malta, including Valletta, will host the second edition of the Malta Biennale, presenting artists in the genres of installation, painting, sculpture, performance, photography and video.

The Maltese government recently announced significant changes to the Permanent Residency Program (MPRP), aimed at making it more accessible and attractive to a wider range of investors, especially families.

One of the most significant changes is the possibility of immediately obtaining a temporary residence card, valid for one year. This card is issued immediately upon submission of an application for permanent residence and payment of an initial administrative fee of EUR 15,000. This provides applicants and their families with unprecedented security and access to Malta without lengthy waiting times.

For investors who choose the property purchase route, the new rules provide immediate rental rights from the date of purchase. This is an important step that brings the MPRP program in line with other popular European programs, such as the Greek and Cypriot Golden Visas. This option allows property buyers to start receiving rental income immediately, significantly minimizing the initial costs and increasing the overall investment appeal of the program. Investors can recoup their investment faster and see a return on their capital.

Candidates who choose the rental option will also receive a significant new advantage: they will be given the opportunity to sublet their property after five years, provided that the subtenant is not another MPRP applicant. This option opens up an additional income stream and adds long-term value to the rental model, increasing the flexibility of the rental market by allowing long-term properties to be used for short-term rentals. This allows investors who choose to rent out to manage their assets more effectively in the future.
