From the evidence collected so far, one of the leading reasons for the arson of the Central Station carriage in Sofia is due to a conflict between two of the people, the homeless, in the carriage - after a conflict, one of the people set the carriage on fire. However, this must be confirmed and collected with evidence. This became clear at the briefing before journalists in the Courthouse by Deputy City Prosecutor Ivo Iliev and Chief Inspector Nikolay Stanchev, Head of the "Criminal Crimes Investigation" sector at the SDVR.
At the briefing, it became clear that pre-trial proceedings have been initiated, and the investigation of the incident itself will be conducted by the SDVR. Expertise has been appointed to establish the causes that led to the death of the deceased, and it is yet to become clear what they died from. Witnesses will still be questioned. The penalty provided by law for such a crime is from 5 to 15 years of imprisonment.
Two people have been detained, both of whom lead a homeless and vagrant lifestyle. They have been convicted of criminal acts. One has been convicted three times, and the other 11 times. They have been convicted and are registered for robberies, thefts, hooliganism, arson, fraud, and assault. Both are suspected of committing the act - the arson of the train car in Sofia, and were detained in front of the platform itself, in close proximity to the burning train car.
A total of 9 people were in the burning train car and in another one next to it. The reason - the opening of the wagons themselves, which is easily done with a wrench or other iron object.
The victims of the arson were taken to "Pirogov", their condition remains serious.
The investigation revealed that there was also thick fog during the arson. The last inspection of the wagons was made at 00.00.
