Police officers attempted this morning to stop for inspection a car driven by a 24-year-old man from Gabrovo with criminal record, whose driving license had been revoked.
The man did not obey the light and sound signal and attempted to flee in the car. A chase ensued, during which the man got out of his car and fled in an attempt to hide. He was followed by police officers, and during this chase he was shot in the "head area", the prosecutor's office reported.
Two pre-trial proceedings have been initiated. One is a Quick Proceedings against the 24-year-old Gabrovo resident for illegally obstructing a government body from fulfilling its duties.
The other pre-trial proceeding is for a police officer, while performing his official duties, to have sustained moderate bodily injury.
The man who was shot is currently being treated at the Gabrovo General Hospital. The case work on both criminal proceedings continues under the leadership of the Gabrovo Police Department, with the investigation of the crime being conducted by an investigator.
