Turkish mafias are being sought in Bulgaria who participated in a shootout with Greek national security agents in Thessaloniki a few days ago, Greek media reported, quoted by bTV.
A 49-year-old Turk was found with a drone and arrested in a Greek village in the Rhodope Mountains where he was hiding in a hut. However, his accomplices managed to escape to Bulgaria.
On May 28, a shootout broke out between Turkish citizens and employees of the Greek national security service who were watching them.
This happened at a gas station in the Thessaloniki area. Several Greek agents were injured, but no details were given about their condition.
After the shootout, police forces raided the car owner's apartment but found no one.
Police are working on the theory that the attack was carried out by members of a Turkish mafia, which is behind ten murders in Greece in the past two years.
The failed undercover surveillance operation has caused friction between the national security service and the police in Greece.
