The Plovdiv District Court has handed down heavier sentences to the twins from Tsalapitsa, Borislav and Valentin Dinkovi. The two were found guilty of helping Rangel Bizyurev to hide after the murder of 24-year-old Dimitar Malinov.
The magistrates increased the sentence imposed on each of the defendants to 3 years in prison. The first will have to serve 4 and a half years, and the second - 4 years, the court's press center reported.
The magistrates' reasoning states that the public danger of the act is extremely high. In this case, the two defendants helped a perpetrator of the most serious crime against the person to avoid criminal prosecution.
The district judges believe that the participation of the two defendants in the crime, which was not done by the first instance court, should be distinguished. According to the appellate court, Borislav Dinkov had a significantly greater participation in the general criminal activity, and his brother Valentin joined much later.
The decision is not subject to appeal.
