A large Bulgarian ancient city now has a tourist infrastructure - 1

The ancient city of Heraclea Sintika in the Rupite area, which attracted the interest of hundreds of thousands of visitors both on site and in virtual space, now has a tourist infrastructure. For the conservation of what has been discovered so far and the socialization of the site, the municipality of Petrich has started the implementation of a large-scale project, the first stage of which is the final right-of-way, specifies BNR.

Only a few days ago, Heraclea Synthica was reopened to visitors. "What we have managed to do is conserve most of the structures discovered by archaeologists, another important thing is that we have managed to build an accessible tourist infrastructure, told "Early on Sunday" project manager Katya Stoyanova:

"The site is currently 80% accessible. All the most interesting of it can be seen on the built pedestrian paths, observation decks, opportunities to view all this from a height, Stoyanova also said.

"Silicone figures are also placed, the things found here are mostly authentic, so we tried not to upgrade with artificial volumes - this is like our policy for the preservation of this object.

What we do in the basilica is scenography. "We tell the stories from Heraclea Syntica through the methods of modern exposure, we show a construction scaffolding from Roman times and we have presented the moment of restoration of the basilica from the first earthquake, before the second fatal one for the city, we show what the construction technologies were then of Roman architects and builders , added Katya Stoyanova.

She also told what the prepared events in the city basilica of Heracleia Synthica have been so far and what future plans they have.

Katya Stoyanova also explained that the colonnade was made reliably according to archaeologists' studies, it is from original columns that fell during the earthquake and were found here on the spot and their copies made of marble mined from the same quarry, where it was found that materials for these columns were mined, said Stoyanova.
