A man is in critical condition after a shark attack in the state of Florida. The incident happened Friday in Nassau County. The man was bitten on the right hand, local authorities reported, quoted by Newsweek and FOCUS.
Local authorities received the signal around 11 am. When they arrived at the scene of the accident, they saw a man who had a limb bitten off. Sheriff Bill Leeper said the man was bleeding profusely. The wounded man was immediately put on the boat, tied with a tourniquet and rushed to the nearest hospital.
The man was in critical condition, but doctors expect him to recover.
Meanwhile, shark attacks on humans in the state are not uncommon. In the Panhandle, two shark attacks were reported on the same day earlier in the month. The attacks took place in Walton County on June 7, with the victims suffering "very serious injuries".
The first victim was a 45-year-old woman who was swimming with her husband in the afternoon. She has an amputated left arm. The second attack, which took place on the same day, was on two teenage girls. A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital in critical condition.
