For the seventh year in the village of Brashlen, Slivo Pole municipality, a "Fish" was held fest", which brought together culinary masters of the menu based on Danube fish and the traditional brandy of this region, BNR reported.
„On the Danube, when you catch a fish, you put salt, fry it and eat it.“
This is the shortest and simplest recipe for cooking fish. But in the village of Brašlen, where fish from the Danube is abundant, for the seventh year they invited friends and guests to measure their mastery in the high levels of culinary art.
Traditional for the fish fest in Bršlen, but rare for the country, is chevreme fish. His masters are the families of Venelin Nikolov and Bogdan Dimov.
The organizers of the festival prepare a special fish soup for all guests and participants. From the first edition until now, the master Emil Nikolov has been spinning the ladle. Yesterday he made three 50 liter cauldrons of broth, which was more than 2,000 servings. And he made it according to all the rules of Danube cuisine - with catfish, white fish, carp, flounder and barbel - each species to give its flavor to the wonderful broth.
The second part of the event was the competition for homemade brandy. The requirements are high, the jury is merciless, and there are dozens of specialists. One of them is the energy engineer Nikola Hristov, who is a recognized master of homemade brandy and a member of last year's jury.
At the final of the competitive part, a competition was held for the fastest fish cleaning. Emotions ran high there.
The winners in the various categories of this year's fish fest were Emil Ismailov with his fish soup, Borislav Yordanov with his incredible grilled carp, the most skillful Tanya Ivanova and Simeon Velev, who brought the best brandy in the neighborhood. Just come to Bršlen next year and you will taste the food, drink and merriment!
