Although the legendary presenter of "Panorama“ on BNT was already established in the profession when his colleague appeared on Nova TV with a jacket made of Chinese silk and a tie with BDZ written on the back.

"I pour a bullet against fear", "I destroy black magic, make white", "I am selling a three-room apartment in the residential area "Mladost“, Sofia“ – read some of the ads. Times were tough for everyone, including the media, so classified ads were taken seriously as they were an essential part of the advertising market. Moreover, Nova TV was not yet a national, but a private regional TV channel in Sofia.

The salary of the young Niki Doinov was more than symbolic - 80 BGN. During this period, however, he and his colleagues, who were mostly young like him, did not work for money. Curiosity and enthusiasm fueled their motivation. Just getting into this environment, Niki Doinov was captivated by the journalistic profession. In addition, along with classified ads, he also read the texts of international editors on air. In the meantime, he learned to type on a computer.

Although he did not study journalism as an academic major, Niki Doinov appreciates the opportunity to enter the profession through practice. So he did, learning from his more experienced colleagues. Until one day in 1998, Lily Popova, who was the head of News at Nova TV, told him that she was becoming the host of the news show. Niki Doinov was very worried because he did not see himself in this light. After all, he was young and unknown to anyone, and at that time eminent authorities such as Ivan Garelov appeared on the air of BNT. Over time, the native of Sofia won the trust of the viewers and today he is among the most recognizable faces of NOVA.

Niki Doinov, who studied finance and law, was also the face of the morning blocks "Hello, Bulgaria" on weekdays and on "U nas", which was broadcast on weekends. Luck or simply because of being carried away by the profession, but the journalist, who celebrated his 52nd birthday on June 5, met his wife Petya quite late - at the age of 44. They met on Facebook. The journalist was not the initiator of the communication, but he and his wife realized that they were for each other at the same time. It happened quite quickly, as did their first sighting. After a few exchanges online, the two went out together. And a few meetings later, they were already convinced of their feelings and intentions. A year later, their son Marko was born. The wedding was postponed until the future, because it was more important for them to create a family.

Petya's former professional occupation was probably one of the first topics in her meetings with Niki Doinov, given his childhood fascination with aviation. His childhood dream was to become a pilot. He did not follow her because mathematics was not his strength. However, airplanes are still a passion for the newsman today. His curiosity is also inexhaustible when it comes to archaeology. His hobby is collecting jazz records.
