The men who specialize in erotic dancing announced their intention to organize into a union last week and petitioned the National Labor Relations Board for representation.
Equity represents 51,000 professional actors and stage managers on Broadway and has recently taken on strip dancers in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles.
Dancers have turned to unions after attempts to improve their wages and working conditions by talking directly with management failed.
