German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician Bülent Büyükbayram was forced to resigned over an inappropriate joke at his 50th birthday party, during which he took and posted on social media a photo of a sex doll with Nazi symbols, Reuters reported.
A few days ago, the politician published a photo in a Facebook group with several hundred users. The photo shows a sex doll wearing a black T-shirt with the words “Fuck St.” on her head. Pauli“ (German football club - ed.) and two letters S in the form of the SS symbol used by Nazi military units.
A wave of criticism against Buyukbayram forced him to publicly apologize “for his stupidity” and to resign.
„It was stupidity, a mistake, I apologized to St. Pauli”, said the politician.
Amidst the scandal, St. Pauli club president Oke Gottlich issued a statement saying that fans' slogans can be inflammatory and should be taken very seriously.
„We are considering legal action and hope that the use of Nazi symbols will be prosecuted in any case,” he said.
