BNEWS continues to stalk and expose the disproportionately enriched state officials who take a bad example from their bosses and mentors Borisov and Peevski, who has been sanctioned by the Western world for grand corruption. All this is happening under an armored political umbrella and the negligence of the state anti-corruption bodies.
For the past nearly eight years, Angelin Tsachev has held the permanent position of executive director of ESO EAD. ESO EAD is the national electricity transmission operator of the Republic of Bulgaria, a company of strategic importance, which is responsible for the connection of all electricity producers, including the boom in photovoltaic power plants in recent years. At the end of 2025, Tsachev's term as CEO was terminated early for unclear reasons, but from the beginning of 2026, he turned out to be a department head at the Bulgarian Energy Holding - the state-owned company that owns and controls key enterprises in Bulgaria's energy sector such as the Kolzloduy NPP, NEK, Bulgargaz, including ESO EAD.
A check of publicly available data in the Commercial Register shows that while Tsachev was managing ESO, his wife, Yovka Tsacheva, managed to develop an extremely successful business model in a very short time. In March 2022, Yovka registered the company “Yozona“ EOOD /EIK 206858164/ with a capital of 100 BGN, of which she is both the sole owner and manager. The scope of activity is wide: consulting and commercial activities, brokerage, construction, transactions and leasing of real estate, commissions and “any other activity“. Just one year after the settlement, the figures show the following:
For 2023, the company reported a turnover of over 10 million leva and a profit of about 3.8 million leva with a staff of two people including the manager.
For 2024 – again almost 10 million leva turnover and about 2 million leva profit with a staff of two people including the manager.
Results that many established companies with a long history can only dream of.
Yovka's business strategy does not stop there, but expands. In December 2024, another new company was registered – “Plovdiv Kolodrum“ Ltd. /EIK 208099552/, this time with a capital of over 4 million leva. The sole owner is “Yozona“ Ltd., and the manager is once again Yovka Tsacheva, who is also the only employee of the company.
The method of forming the capital deserves special attention - a non-cash contribution consisting of an impressive number of plots of land and real estate, described in detail in the Commercial Register.
This raises a number of questions. How, in an extremely short period, did a company with an initial capital of 100 leva achieve a turnover of tens of millions? With what means was this achieved, what is the origin of these funds, as well as the properties contributed to the second company?
What exactly is the activity that generates such profits?
And most importantly - Should the risk of a potential connection between the business rise of Yovka's companies and the position of her husband Angelin Tsachev as the long-time head of a state-owned company playing a key role in Bulgaria's energy sector be comprehensively and thoroughly investigated?
Of course, successful business in itself is not a crime. But when the wife of a senior state manager builds a corporate structure with a turnover of millions in just two or three years, the public interest undoubtedly requires full illumination and clarification of every detail of the case, in order to eliminate even the slightest suspicion of possible abuses and violations of the law. Building trust in institutions requires precisely this.
