Nearly a quarter of the state funding for maintaining and repairing the road infrastructure in Bulgaria , amounting to almost BGN 1 billion, was won through tender procedures by nine companies united by a common majority owner. It is about "IG Holding" Ltd., registered in the city of Targovishte. This information is the result of a thorough analysis of the documentation on public procurements awarded by the "Road Infrastructure" Agency. (API) in the period 2023 - 2024.
Research on "Dnevnik" in the Commercial Register reveals that contracts for road maintenance and repair works in several key areas of the country were won by companies linked to "IG Holding". Among these districts are Gabrovo, Lovech, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Silistra and Targovishte. In addition, the companies have also won the tender for the maintenance of the "Hemus" highway. in the section Bukhovtsi - Varna.
An interesting fact is that "IG Holding" participated in two consortia that won the tenders for the road infrastructure in Razgrad and Shumen regions. This further expands the scope of activities of the holding's related companies in Northeast Bulgaria.
This concentration of public procurement in the hands of one group of companies raises questions about the competitiveness of the procedures and the efficiency of the distribution of public funds in the sector.
