The best Bulgarian basketball player Alexander Vezenkov led his Greek team Olympiakos to a convincing home victory over Armani Olympia Milano with 89:68 (23:17, 16:10, 24:21, 26:20) in a match of the third round of the men's basketball Euroleague, BNR reported.
The success was the second in a row for Olympiakos, who are already 2-1, and the Italian team suffered its second defeat since the beginning of the season.
Alexander Vezenkov was again on top and together with Shaquille McKissick were the most successful in the match. The Bulgarian national was in the starting five and scored 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, added 1 assist and 2 steals in 24 minutes on the field.
Vezenkov started very stable and realized 12 points and 4 rebounds already in the first quarter, which ended at 23:17. The hosts had a lead of 39:27 after 20 minutes of play and led by 45:30 two minutes after the break. An upswing in play followed for Armani Olimpia Milano, who cut the gap to 41:45 midway through the period before Vezenkov converted four consecutive free throws to increase the Greek team's lead to 49:41. A little later, the Bulgarian scored a three-pointer for a 54:44 lead before the end of the third part, and before the last quarter the score was 63:48. In the remaining time, the basketball players of Olympiakos were unchallenged.
Shaquille McKissick chipped in with 22 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists for the hosts, while Italy's Zach Liday had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
