The Russian tennis player, who is #7 in the world ranking, was eliminated by the currently occupying the 217th position in the world Stan Wawrinka from Switzerland with 7:6(5), 7:6(5). The match lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes.

39-year-old Wawrinka participates in the main draw of the tournament with an invitation from the organizers.

The two tennis players met for the sixth time at the professional level, with Wawrinka achieving his fourth success.

For a place in the final, Wawrinka will play No. 4 seed and 13th-ranked Tommy Paul of the United States.

The two have two matches against each other so far, exchanging one success each.
