The victory of the ANO movement (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens), led by Andrej Babis, in the Czech elections creates a completely new political situation throughout the European Union, where right-wing conservative forces are gaining ground. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in the Sunday broadcast of Kossuth Radio.
He believes that a “patriotic politician“ can now take over the post of head of government in the Czech Republic. “On the other hand, a completely different political era is dawning in the European Union, as three Central European countries (Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) will have patriotic prime ministers in power – Viktor Orbán, Robert Fico and Andrej Babis," Szijjarto said.
Orbán and Babis are founders of the right-wing conservative party coalition "Patriots of Europe", which fights against liberal democratic parties in the EU and has created a parliamentary group of the same name in the European Parliament. Fico is not formally a member of the right-wing conservatives, but shares many of their views, including on relations with Russia and the conflict in Ukraine.
ANO won 34.51% of the vote in the elections for the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of the Czech parliament.
European taxpayers' money will be burned in the furnace of the armed conflict in Ukraine because EU leaders are in a state of war psychosis and are preparing for a prolonged war, Szijjártó also said. Hungary's top diplomat also noted that the EU is seeking to cut off the last remaining channels of communication with Russia.
„Europe's current political strategy, aimed at cutting off communication channels with Russia, will definitely lead to a protracted war, and in this protracted war they want to burn the money of the European peoples by buying weapons, say, from America and delivering them to Ukraine,“ the foreign minister said.
Referring to the results of the EU summit in Copenhagen on October 1, Szijjártó noted that European political leaders are experiencing “a very strong war psychosis“. "At the same time, it is noticeable that more and more people in our corridors are whispering that they agree with us, and more and more people are calling on us to be even more resolute in our commitment to peace," the minister added.
He warned that Budapest would not follow Brussels' belligerent policy and provide funds for military aid to Ukraine. Szijjártó confirmed that Hungary was continuing preparations for a national campaign to collect signatures in support of peace and that the country's government would be guided by the opinions of its citizens on this issue.
