US presidential envoy Stephen Witkoff announced significant progress in talks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. He published the corresponding article in X after the first day of trilateral discussions in Geneva.
According to Witkoff, the US “has acted as a moderator in the trilateral talks with Ukraine and Russia“. He also praised the "success of the current US administration in bringing the parties to the conflict together, which has led to significant progress."
“Both sides agreed to report the results to their leaders and continue working towards a deal,” Witkoff said.
A source in the Russian negotiating team previously told TASS that participants in the trilateral talks on Ukraine in Geneva had agreed to continue contacts on Wednesday. According to the source, the first six-hour day of the talks was very tense.
The trilateral talks between Russia, the US and Ukraine began in Geneva on Tuesday. The Russian delegation is led by Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the president of the Russian Federation.
