US President Donald Trump has denied media reports that the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kaine, has warned him not to undertake a full-scale military intervention in Iran, Agence France-Presse reported.
"General Kaine, like all of us, would prefer not to see a war, but if a decision were made to intervene militarily against Iran, he believes it would be something that could easily be won", the US president wrote on his social network "Truth Social".
"The decision is mine and I would rather make a deal than not to make one, and if we don't make one, it will be a very bad day for that country (Iran), and unfortunately, for their people. Given that they (the Iranians) are great and great, something so bad should not happen to them," Trump added, quoted by Reuters.
The US president warned countries around the world not to deviate from the provisions of recently negotiated trade agreements with the United States, after the US Supreme Court overturned its global tariffs, Reuters reported.
Trump threatened that if they did, he would impose even higher tariffs on them, under other trade laws.
"Any country that wants to "play games" with the absurd decision of the Supreme Court, especially those who "robbered" The US will face even higher tariffs than the ones they recently negotiated for years, even decades. BUYER BEWARE!!!" Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social".
The US president pointed out that despite the Supreme Court's decision, it does not affect his ability to use tariffs under other legal provisions "in a much more powerful and nasty way".
He hinted that the US could resort to new licensing fees on its trading partners, but did not give further details.
