The Washington administration has lifted sanctions against Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez.

This was announced in a statement published on the US Treasury Department website.

The ministry did not provide any details about this decision.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Venezuela had already passed the stabilization stage and was in the recovery phase.

According to him, the US plan for the country includes three phases, the first of which - stabilization - Venezuela has already passed.

„The second phase is recovery; "We are now in the recovery phase," he said in an interview with Fox News.

According to him, Venezuela is witnessing an economic recovery that is favorable to the United States. "They supply oil to our refineries, and the revenues are deposited in US-controlled accounts," he said, adding that these funds "will not be stolen, but will be used for the benefit of the Venezuelan people."

Rubio believes that the next stage for Venezuela will be a transitional phase that includes holding free and fair elections. "That moment must come, but we must be patient," the US Secretary of State said.

On January 3, the US attacked civilian and military targets in Caracas and announced the capture and removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. On January 5, the two appeared in federal court for the Southern District of New York. They are accused of drug trafficking.

The functions of head of state in Venezuela are performed by Delcy Rodriguez, who was vice president under Maduro.

The US administration announced that the United States would take temporary control of Venezuela and expressed confidence that Washington would receive compensation from Caracas for American oil companies.
