Robert Fico: This is a very fragile truce - 1

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico considers the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran "very fragile", but believes it is a chance to "cool down", TASR news agency reported, quoted by BTA.

"I am very pleased with the two-week ceasefire. This is a very fragile truce, but (...) let's hope that these hot passions will cool down a little“, Fico said in a video message posted on social media.

The United States and Iran agreed to a ceasefire shortly before the expiration of US President Donald Trump's ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz.

The proposal for an immediate two-week ceasefire was accepted by Iran, the United States and Israel, and it also includes the unblocking of the strategic sea corridor.

Several Arab countries praised the agreement between the US and Iran for a two-week ceasefire and welcomed the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, DPA reported, BTA reported.

Oman's Foreign Minister Said Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud Albusaidi said that Muscat "confirms the importance at this time of accelerating of efforts to find a solution to end the crisis fundamentally. He expressed his opinion in a post today on the social platform "Ex", just hours after US President Donald Trump announced the two-week ceasefire.

According to the Iraqi state news agency, Baghdad believes that the ceasefire helps reduce tensions and facilitates further steps towards dialogue.

The mood was more upbeat in the United Arab Emirates, DPA notes. Presidential advisor Anwar Gargash said the country had "triumphed" in the war. The Emirates have been under constant attack from Iran during the conflict, which began with US-Israeli military strikes on Tehran on February 28.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry described the decision as a positive step towards de-escalation and limiting regional tensions, and noted that the pause, along with Tehran's response, provides an important opportunity for progress in negotiations and diplomacy.
