Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir will visit Tehran on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said. He said the visit is part of Pakistan's ongoing efforts to strengthen peace and security in the region, BTA reports.
Munir will head an official delegation and hold meetings with senior Iranian officials. The visit comes amid active diplomatic efforts to find a way out of the conflict between Iran and the United States.
Pakistan is playing the role of a mediator in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington, seeking to maintain a channel of communication between the two countries and help reach an agreement.
Munir's upcoming visit to Tehran is another step in this diplomatic line. It comes after previous contacts between the Pakistani leadership and representatives of Iran and the United States aimed at resuming and continuing negotiations.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the visit aims not only to deepen bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, but also to contribute to broader stability in the region.
