Biden made it clear to Netanyahu, that the United States will not participate in Israeli operations against Iran, CNN reported, citing an administration official.
No Iranian attacks against US troops or US facilities in the Middle East have been detected during Tehran's attack on Israel, US President Joe Biden announced on Saturday.
He stressed that, nevertheless, the United States intends to remain vigilant. “While we saw no attacks against our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant for all threats and will not hesitate to take any necessary action to protect our people,” the US president said in a statement released by White's press office home.
Group of Seven (G-7) leaders will hold talks on Sunday to coordinate a diplomatic response to Iran's attack on Israel, Biden also said.
On Sunday, I will gather my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a concerted diplomatic response to Iran's brazen attack. My team will engage with their colleagues across the region. And we will maintain close contact with the Israeli leaders”, the head of state stressed.
Biden specified that Saturday's attacks against Israel were carried out from the territories of Iran, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.
„I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible way,”, Biden said.
Earlier, the US president held consultations with members of the National Security Council regarding Iran's attack on Israel. Biden also spoke on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel was able to shoot down almost all the drones and missiles fired by Iran, Biden said.
On Saturday evening, the Israel Defense Forces press office reported that Iran had fired drones from its territory toward Israel and was on high alert and tracking all targets. The Israeli military later said it had also recorded missile launches from Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (elite units of Iran's armed forces) confirmed a massive attack on Israel using drones and missiles.
