US President Joe Biden declared Iran's attack on Israel a failure and assessed the situation as a victory about the Jewish state, CNN reported, citing its sources.
According to them, Biden, in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that the Jewish state can consider today a victory, since the Iranian attack was unsuccessful. Biden added that Israel's actions demonstrate its “superior military capabilities”.
The wave of Iranian attacks against Israel, which lasted about five hours, began to subside, CNN reported.
According to the media, US forces in the region provided defensive support to Israel and intercepted several drones. Washington continues to closely monitor the situation in light of potential new activity from Iran.
Iran has fired 185 drones and 36 cruise missiles toward Israel in response to Israeli military shelling of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the New York Times reported, citing Israeli officials.
They said most of the launches were from Iran, although a small number of drones were launched from Iraq and Yemen. Iran has also fired 110 surface-to-surface missiles.
Group of Seven (G7) countries plan to discuss next steps on Sunday following Iran's attack on Israel, Bloomberg reported. They will hold a video call to discuss and “coordinate next steps” after the Iranian attack.
