Yesterday EU foreign ministers reached an agreement in principle to expand sanctions against Tehran, agreeing to extend restrictive measures on the Islamic Republic's arms exports of any drones or missiles to Iranian proxies and Russia.
"It is a shame to see the EU decide to quickly implement more illegal restrictions against Iran just because Tehran exercised its right to self-defense against Israel's reckless aggression,'' Amir Abdollahian wrote on the social network X. He called on the EU to impose sanctions of Israel instead of Iran.
EU countries still need to approve a legal framework before the expansion of sanctions can take effect.
