Christy Noem, the Republican governor of South Dakota, has called for President Joe Biden's dog to be euthanized because has repeatedly bitten people, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.
Noem made the request a few days after she herself shared that she had adopted her own dog.
According to Noem, Biden's dog – the German shepherd Commander – should suffer the same fate as her own dog for biting people.
Fifty-two-year-old Christy Noem is perceived as a possible candidate for vice president in tandem with Donald Trump.
The White House responded to the Republican governor's calls by calling them absurd.
"This is a country that loves animals, and here we have a woman in a leadership position talking about killing dogs,” said White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre.
In her soon-to-be-published memoir, the South Dakota governor says she shot her 14-month-old female dog, Cricket, because it was out of control.
On Sunday, Noem said that if Trump wins the presidential election, she will arrange for Commander to join Cricket. "How many people have to be attacked and dangerously injured before you make a decision about this dog?, Noem said.
In October, the Bidens sent Commander to the countryside because of his tendency to bite. Biden's other dog - the German shepherd Major - also had a habit of biting White House staff and was entrusted to friends to live in a calmer environment.
