A restored Soviet I-16 fighter will take part in this year's Victory Day parade in Novosibirsk, Russia, reported RIA Novosti.
The plane in question took part in the battles during the Great Patriotic War, as they call it in Russia. The restoration of the legendary fighter is a multi-year hard work of a large number of patriots and enthusiasts.
The I-16 aircraft was created in the 1930s. He is the personification of the Air Force of the Red Army, and in the Soviet Union his images can be seen literally everywhere.
The aircraft was baptized in Spain in 1936. The Red Army also used it in its invasion of Finland, as well as in air battles in Mongolia. When Hitler's army began operation “Barbarossa“ however, the I-16 is technologically outdated and cannot compete with the German fighter jets.
